Fork Union Military Academy
Event and Interscholastic Invitational
February 25, 2007

We were not blessed with great weather for the FUMA meet. This seems to be our lot in life. Nevertheless, we appreciate the great effort of those who made the trek to Fork Union. The compensation for the long trek is that FUMA gets to base its meet indoors, allowing people to register indoors, and competitors to relax and to enjoy post course discussion in a warm environment.

The team from the Naval Academy captured the first Collegiate Title for the FUMA Invitational. Justin Mears battled the Green course, Seth Wilkins and Peter Bose worked on Orange, and Daniel Stayton completed the team on yellow. (see picture on right) Manchester High School won its third consecutive FUMA Invitational with a solid performance by Aaron Kolleda, Steve Aycock, and anchored by Robert Yeager on Green. (see picture on left)

Much thanks go to Val Meyer for her tireless work with the e-punch system. My colleague, Ed Moore, worked continuously at any number of tasks including driving the bus to the remote start. The FUMA cadets appeared to set and vet accurate courses as well as running the meet. This is a great chance for them to learn and grow. Thanks also to Tom Strat who helped with the design of the courses.
