The uncertainties of late winter had Saturday well in to the 60’s but on Sunday had the temperatures drop over 20 degrees with an installment gusty, chilly winds. Nevertheless once people got out it was fairly pleasant, along with bright sunny skies we had a very nice turn out, 72 entries with 86 individuals came out to run the courses by Nadim Ahmed. This, in addition to an A-meet going on close by, which made the turn out even more impressive.
Again, we had a great cast of volunteers make the event run smoothly, some who agreed to help prior to the event and others that jumped in, on the fly. George Schick, Mary Packard on registration, David Levine, Mike Ford, Marc Dixon, John Landers, Jody Landers, and Dwight Johnson, on set up and start/finish and Heidi Onset who helped do everything from hanging controls to beginners' instruction. And after we had Dan Quinn, Sam Mistake and Mihas Serb brave control pick up.
Welcome or welcome back to new QOC members or renewals. Bonnie Chamborlain family, Jeremy Dick, David Levine, and the Rich family, enjoy your memberships.
With only 2 DNF’s combined throughout the entire field, the courses gave everyone the opportunity to enjoy the park. Congrats to all the course winners: Howard Crystal on White, Joe Garman (second course) and Linus Hamilton on Yellow, Bruce Van Arsdell on Orange, Fabio Guerinowi on Brown, Joe Garman on Green, Bryon Williams on Red, Pruden (never found the first name sorry) on Blue.
We did have a little snafu with the GO control, as the advance runners came out of the woods that was hung in a group of trees to the right that actually should have been hung about 50 meters to the left. We did catch it about halfway through and only was a mild delay to the overall times.
Thanks again to everyone for making it a successful event.
