Little Bennett

QOC’s first meet of Spring, 2007 was at Little Bennett Regional Park in Montgomery County, Maryland and was a great success. Sunny skies, warm temperatures, and open “run-able” forests and fields, all combined to bring a huge turnout of competitors and make for a truly enjoyable day in the woods. The variety of courses designed by QOC’s Sam Listwak provided fun and challenge for all levels of participant – including families with kids, boy scout groups, and new orienteers, as well as adventure racers, endurance athletes, and O-veterans alike.

As always, an event like this cannot take place without the assistance of all of the volunteers who help plan, organize, set up, and run everything. In addition to the invaluable support of dedicated Club “regulars” like Valerie Meyer who ran the entire e-punch process, Little Bennett would not have gone so smoothly without the assistance of new volunteers and members, like Bob Mauri and others who simply took a few moments to “learn the ropes” and pitched right in (and still had time to do a course!). Volunteering is easy and fun, and really is its own reward – because it keeps this great sport alive!
