With temperatures in the 70s and 80s and low humidity, we were treated to a nice fall day for orienteering. We had a higher than expected turn out of 150 runners, to include 10 on the Streamer Course.
I was fortunate to have a good group of volunteers that made this meet a success, starting foremost with Tom Strat’s course design and setting efforts.
Heidi Onkst set up and ran e-punch, with assistance of Deborah McGee and Melissa Wirzburger.
Helping at the registration and start/finish areas were Lynne Millholland, Melanie Hickman, Jim Thull and Nina Blagrove. This was Melanie’s and Nina’s first experience at an O-event and they were able to find their way through a course after helping.
Jan and Dagmar Merka once again set up the Streamer Course for our sprouting Orienteers and I was glad to see the number of participants that came out and enjoyed their course.
With a larger than expected turnout and warm temperatures, Dan Quinn helped replenish water at some of the controls.
With the assistance of Jim Thull, Bill Vienna, Jan Merka, Sam Listwak, Ed Bergeron and Jan Merka, controls were picked up and we were out of the park by 5:30pm.
